A huge expanse of land dedicated to providing recreational opportunities and a safe haven for wildlife, Big Cypress National Preserve is best known for its hiking trails, scenic drives and off-road vehicle accessibility. ORVs just need to obtain a permit and pay a fee before heading out to explore the vast wild expanses of the park. Like many of the state's national parks, Big Cypress is more popular in the winter, when there is less rainfall than in the summer months but temperatures are still quite comfortable. Situated just north of Everglades National Park on the southern tip of Florida, the park features many similar species of plants and animals, but with less watery swamps to impede travel.
Visitors center open daily 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
